Frequently Asked Questions about Bahrain visa

  • What is a sponsored visa?
A sponsored visa for the Kingdom of Bahrain is a visa that you can only obtain through an individual or company in Bahrain who acts as the sponsor. Work visas in Bahrain always require a sponsor, and so do visit visas for many nationalities. If you wish to visit a resident of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and do not qualify for an unsponsored visa, you may be sponsored by the resident (or by the employer of this person).
  • The Visit eVisa and GCC eVisa are unsponsored. What does this mean?
In contrast to a sponsored visa, an unsponsored visa is a visa that you can obtain yourself without the need for a sponsor. The Visit eVisa is an example of an unsponsored visa, but not every person is eligible for one of these.
  • What happens if my application is not approved?
In a small percentage of cases, we may not be able to evaluate and approve an application. In these cases, you should apply through the nearest Bahrain embassy.
  • If my e-Visa application is denied, will my fees be refunded?
The processing fee will not be refunded if the application is unsuccessful.
  • What can I do if I make a mistake in my application?
Once an application has been submitted and processed, and the card payment has been processed, if the application is rejected or cancelled, the visa fees will be refunded but the processing fees are not refundable. It is important that you are very careful when you type in your personal details.
  • How long is a visa valid for?
The eVisa is valid for 30 days from the approval date. Note that it is not possible to have more than one visa issued for a passport at a time. You must have used your eVisa, or it should have expired, before you can apply for another eVisa.
  • Can i extend my stay in destination country?
On a Visit eVisa you can stay in Bahrain for 14 days (but British and Irish nationals can stay up to 3 months). On a GCC eVisa you can stay for either 3 days or 7 days, depending on which eVisa you purchased.
  • How long can I stay in the destination country?
On a Visit eVisa you can stay for 14 days.
